Mental Hygiene
Waking up in the morning is a repetitive stew of bad breath, odor, pillow somewhere on the floor and another day in front of me. I get out the bed, not really wanting to, knowing I need to, and I brush my teeth, shower, use the toilet, get dressed and do the regular morning activities that come with getting ready for the rest of my day. That whole sequence sets my day, it is my beginning, and however varied the sequences of other people, this hygiene upkeep is necessary every single day. My productivity increases when I eat breakfast, my confidence is dimmed when I forget to put on enough deoderant, my day begins in ruins if I wake up late. So a good start is important.
When I wake up my thoughts are just as important as the phyical tasks I set out to do every morning. I wake up and my mind is a stew of tiredness, to-do lists, and what-didn’t-get-done-yesterday-lists. Preparing your mind for the day and keeping up your mental acuity through the day is simple mental hygiene. Phenomenoms such as, wait for it, positive thought as opposed to the more popular negativity and goals as opposed to the seemingly required medium of procrastination, and other things of the sort can keep you fresh. A positive attitude doesn’t mean something negative won’t happen in the day but it can be the airbag for the crash and burn incidents for our lives. “This may have messed up, but I’m going to be okay, its all going to work out” These thoughts can seem so unimportant so to show you their importance lets look at the math.
Actions = Desire + Method
Desire = What I want to do
Method = What I want to do about it
Your desire is your thought for what you want, your method is your thought process in figuring out to get it, usually in the laziest way possible if not trained out of that way of thinking. So if they are both thought produced, and not out of the air we breathe, I can be relatively confident that aligning our thought with a positive outlook can only yield positive results.
Mental Hygiene is so important. It makes me quite angry to hear “I can’t” in a situation that dictates a “I won’t” being honest with yourself in your thought process is like showering, your mental acuity will be very confused without it, just like your body would produce ungodly odors without a shower. Pressure situations equate to high cardio, and in a situation of high pressure to make the right decisions, you be completely honest with yourself about the parameters of the situation. If you don’t your decision will be based off a system of information that doesn’t exist.
Mental hygiene equates to better results, as a person, I am solely about productivity. Keeping your thoughts positive and your goals in the forefront of your mind is the ideal way to accomplish them.
